New Coach for Ademola Lookman at Atalanta
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has a new boss at Atalanta. The Italian club has named Ivan Juric as their new manager after Gian Piero Gasperini left the team at the end of last season.
Gasperini ended his eight-year spell at Atalanta, during which he turned the club into regular contenders in European competitions. Despite efforts to extend his contract, he chose to move on and has now joined Roma.
Atalanta have now turned to Ivan Juric, a well-known face in Serie A, to lead the team. Although his most recent job at Southampton in England ended in disappointment after failing to keep them in the Premier League, he brings plenty of experience from his time at clubs like Genoa, Crotone, Hellas Verona, and Torino.
Juric and Super Eagles Stars
Juric has worked with several Nigerian players before. At Torino, he managed Ola Aina and spoke highly of him, saying:
“Ola Aina can play equally on both sides. He has quality, crossing, and dribbling. He needs to improve, but there’s a player there.”
At Southampton, he also coached Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu, although his time there was short and not very successful. Aribo played 16 matches under him, while Onuachu featured in 15 games.
What It Means for Lookman
Now, Ademola Lookman will play under Juric, and the new coach’s style might suit him well. Juric is known for counter-attacking football, a style that could benefit Lookman, who is quick, skillful, and sharp in front of goal.
Lookman has been one of Atalanta’s best players over the past two seasons and is expected to play a key role in the team, especially if he stays.
Will Lookman Stay?
There have been rumours linking Lookman with a move away from Bergamo this summer, but so far, nothing has been confirmed. If he remains at the club, he is likely to be a vital player in Juric’s plans.
Whether he stays or moves, one thing is certain—Ademola Lookman has proven he can shine at the top level, and all eyes will be on how he fits into Atalanta’s new era under Ivan Juric.
