Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has voiced his confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to clinch the title at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Gusau highlighted the presence of Victor Osimhen, whom he considers the best player on the continent, as a key factor that positions Nigeria as strong contenders for the championship.
Speaking to Totori News, Gusau expressed optimism in the team, emphasizing the talent and potential of the emerging players who are making significant contributions to their European clubs.
“We have upcoming and talented players, who are doing wonderfully well in their European clubs and ready to make a name for themselves,” said Gusau.
He specifically pointed out Victor Osimhen as the best player in Africa, underscoring the striker’s prowess. However, Gusau acknowledged that Osimhen is yet to secure an AFCON title.
The Super Eagles, under the management of Jose Peseiro, are set to commence their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday, January 14.
The NFF President’s confidence in the team reflects high expectations and a belief in the potential of Nigerian football to excel on the continental stage.
