NFF President Ibrahim Gusau Takes Over as WAFU B President

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has officially assumed office as the new President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.

Gusau’s elevation to the regional leadership role was confirmed on Monday, following the resignation of Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association. Okraku stepped down from the WAFU B presidency after securing a seat on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) two months ago.

The WAFU B secretariat, headquartered in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, announced the development, highlighting Gusau’s overwhelming support from member nations and expressing confidence in his ability to bring “continuity and dynamism” to the union’s operations.

Before his new appointment, Gusau served as First Vice President of WAFU B. He has been the President of the NFF since September 30, 2022, and is widely recognized for revitalizing football administration in Nigeria.

His assumption of the WAFU B presidency comes on the heels of Nigeria’s impressive performance at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the Flying Eagles secured bronze medals and a ticket to the FIFA U20 World Cup.

Gusau’s new position places him at the forefront of football development in the West African sub-region, where expectations are high for improved collaboration, competitions, and grassroots growth.
