NFF remembers late Super Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu 8 years after his death

Eight years after the passing of Shuaibu Amodu, the former coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken to social media to honor his memory.

Amodu, who played a significant role in Nigerian football, passed away in 2016. The NFF shared photos and a heartfelt message, stating, “Today we remember former Super Eagles Coach and NFF Technical Director, Late Coach Shuaibu Amodu who passed on to glory on this day in 2016. May his soul continue to rest in the Lord. Thank you, Coach, for your contributions to the development of the round leather game in Nigeria.”

During his career, Amodu achieved notable success, including qualifying Nigeria for two World Cup competitions and winning bronze medals at the Africa Cup of Nations and serving as both coach and Technical Director for the Super Eagles.

The remembrance of Shuaibu Amodu comes shortly after the Super Eagles’ defeat by Benin Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, making the tribute even more poignant.
