Nigeria 3 Seychelles 1: Jamilu Collins tops Super Eagles rating against the Pirates

Not the best possible night for some individuals but the team got the job done in their dead rubber AFCON qualifier clash against the Pirates of Seychelles at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Friday.

SportsRation rates the individual display of Eagles against Pirates.

3 – Francis Uzoho
Not the best night for Super Eagles goalie as his display brought back the call for a new goalie with many already suggesting Maduka Okoye be given a chance.

It was his mistake that gifted the Pirates their only goal of the game. Uzoho misread a ball and attempted to punch but failed with his attempt allowing Roddy Melanie to fire into an empty post.

5 – Shehu Abdullahi
The right back didn’t have much to do, gave away unneccessary fouls when the team was under pressure.

8 – Jamilu Collins
Man of the match in my opinion, on a day where nothing seemed to have worked, Collins was on hand running the flank like an elite wing back.

He hardly put his foot wrong and his impressive display was rewarded with two assists.

6 – Kenneth Omeruo
Was there when needed even though he didn’t have much to do.

6 – William Ekong
Played with bloodied nose. Just like his partner, he was there when needed even though he didn’t have much to do.

7.5 – Wilfred Ndidi
Apart from creating the first goal as he was the player fouled in the box before the penalty was awarded, Ndidi showed why he is one of the best in the world.

He was assured in the middle of the park, helped the defenders and was taking initiatives when the midfield looked flat.

5 – Oghenkaro Etebo
The Stoke midfielder who just recovered from an injury was not at his best as he looked dull. His highlight would be the free-kicks he played; one went over the bar and the other forced a save from Seychelles goalie.

4 – Alex Iwobi
Surely the poorest we’ve seen of Alex Iwobi in Nigeria’s shirt. He looked the shadow of the player we knew, he was involved in the midfield but wasn’t productive with all he did.

His passes were misplaced and looked lost and lack of ideas all through the time he was on the pitch.

7 – Henry Onyekuru
Scored Nigeria’s second goal and played a good game. He struggled to make any reasonable contribution in the first 45 minute but grew into the game.

5.5 – Odion Ighalo
Scored Nigeria’s first goal from the 12-yard for his 7th of the qualifiers campaign but was largly missing for the most part of the game.

Had a chance to score early on but fluffed his line when he met a ball with the keeper to beat and a defender on him.

5.5 – Ahmed Musa
The stand-in captain didn’t play to his standard but wasn’t without passion and ambition.

5 – Semi Ajayi
The inform Rotherham midfielder was a second half substitute. Helped Wilfred Ndidi in the middle of the park when he came ater Rohr had switched the tactics to 4-4-2 to accomodate Paul Onuachu.

He had a chance to score a goal from a set piece but he was adjudged to have impeded on his marker.

4- Paul Onuachu
Not the best possible debut for the tall Nigerian striker but he showed a glimpse of what is to come. Thought he should have started as the lone striker instead of Odion Ighalo but had to play alongside the Shanghai striker upfront.

He was seen playing in the midfield and drifting to flank for the must time until Odion Ighalo was withdrawn when he was the central striker.

7 – Simon Moses
Scored Nigeria’s third goal after receiving a ball from Jamilu Collins and creating a space for himself to fire past Seychelles goalie.

Had more impact in the space of five minute he spent on the field than Ighalo and Musa. He lifted the crowd at Stephen Keshi Stadium and proved to be a weapon Rohr can always rely upon.

Super Eagles starting XI vs Seychelles: Francis Uzoho – Shehu Abdullahi, Jamilu Collins, Kenneth Omeruo, William Ekong – Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo (Paul Onuachu 64) – Alex Iwobi (Semi Ajayi 72), Ahmed Musa (Captain), Henry Onyekuru – Odion Ighalo (Moses Simon 85)
