Nigeria beat Kenya to claim Bronze medal in women category at the 2017 AFCON Hockey
The Nigeria women hockey national teamm, Green Hornets beat Kenya to claim the Bronze medal at the 2017 Africa Hockey Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Green Hornets lost to Kenya by a last minute goal in the group stages but were equal to the task in the third place clash, matching their Eastern African counterparts on every part of the pitch.
Nigeria drew the first blood but were pegged back immediately, again the Green Hornets were in front but pegged back again, at the end of the first half scores tied at 2-2.
The fearless Green Hornets took the lead again in the third quarters and ended the third quarter flying high. The py continued with a hugh tempo in the fourth quarter but fell to another late goal to be denied the early party.
The fourth quarter ended 3-3 and the game went into the oenalty shootout.
Nigeria then beat Kenya 2-1 on penalty to claim the Bronze medal at the Africa Hockey Nations Cup.
