Nigeria beats Burkina Faso to claim the first-ever African Floor Ball Championship
Nigeria’s men floor ball national team has beaten Burkina Faso 3-1 to claim the maiden edition of the African floorball championship on Sunday.
The 2017 winter Olympic silver medalists ensured they took their pound of flesh from Burkina Faso after suffering a 5-1 loss in the group stages to their Western Africa neighbours.
Nigeria beat Togo 7-3 in their first game of the competition, they trashed the hosts, Ivory Coast 7-3 but lost 5-1 to Burkina Faso in their last game to finish second on the log.
In the 1st and 2nd classification game involving Nigeria and Burkina Faso, two goals from Muiz Bello and a strike from Sunday Oguruku gave Nigeria a hard-fought 3-1 win to earn Freeman Ekundayo tutored side the bragging right as the first nation to win the African Floorball championship.
