Nigeria may miss the services of right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel for the game vs Sierra Leone following his latest injury.
As confirmed by his Turkish Super Lig club Fenebarche, Osayi-Samuel sustained the injury in training and treatment has begun.
The Fenerbache statement announcing injury to Osayi-Samuel read ” MRI imaging was performed at Altunizade Hospital Acıbadem Sağlık Grubu Altunizade hospital after the blow he received in training by Bright Osayi Samuel. As a result of the screening, the treatment of our player has begun for bleeding and tearing due to the injury in his left thigh muscle. This is for the public information.”
With no time-frame set for his recovery from the tear and bleeding in his left calf, Nigeria Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro will be concerned about the fitness of Osayi-Samuel who was the Man-Of The-Match vs Guinea Bissau in the last international window.
Nigeria will face Sierra Leone in matchday five of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The game will take place on June 16.
A fit and ready Osayi-Samuel will be key to Nigeria`s hopes of taking at least a point in that match to seal qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a game vs Sao Tome and Principe to spare.
The 25-year old has made three appearances for the Super eagles, his first in 2022 vs Portugal before the double-header Vs Guinea-Bissau in March 2023.
