Nigeria to play Italy, Mexico in 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles have been drawn in group B at the Official Draw for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017, which will be played in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, between 27 April and 7 May 2017.

Nigeria who didn’t participate in the tournament in 2015 when Portugal hosted and won are drawn in group B alongside Italy, Mexico and a yet-to-be-determined AFC opponent.

The two-time African champions will be hoping to better their previous performances in the past FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups.

Nigeria have missed just two of the past six FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups since it started in 2005 and have reached the quarterfinal stages on two different occasions while failing to leave the group stages on just two occasions.
