Nigeria pushing hard to win Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri for Super Eagles
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reportedly started efforts to help the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secure the international commitment of Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been impressing under Mikel Arteta, is eligible to play for both Nigeria and England.
Although he has represented England at various youth levels, Nwaneri has not yet committed to the senior team, leaving the possibility open for him to switch to the Super Eagles or the Flying Eagles.
According to a recent reports, Nwaneri has said he will play for whichever country formally approaches him first, making the Nigerian football authorities eager to act quickly.
In response, Nigerian journalist and football administrator, Tobi Adepoju, shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page that the NSC is now involved in supporting the efforts to persuade the young player to choose Nigeria.

If Nwaneri decides to play for the Super Eagles, he would join a growing list of England-born players, including Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Calvin Bassey, who have chosen to represent Nigeria at the international level.
With Nigeria eager to secure one of Arsenal’s brightest young talents, it remains to be seen whether the NFF’s efforts—now supported by the NSC—will be enough to convince Nwaneri to wear the green and white jersey.
This season, Nwaneri has scored eight goals in 27 appearances, including two goals in the UEFA Champions League. He is another talent who could strengthen the Super Eagles squad in the future if he decides to play for Nigeria.
