Nigeria suffer Africa Football League dissapointment
Nigeria has suffered Africa Football League dissapointment after CAF ignored the countries clubs for the new eight team league.
As announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the new eight team Africa Football League will commence in October 2022.
At the Confederation of Africa Football’s (CAF) General Assembly in Abidjan on Thursday July 13, the eight teams to participate in the maiden edition of the Football League were announced.
In what will be a dissapointment for nine-time Nigerian Champions Enyimba International FC, no Nigerian club was considered to be part of the inaugural edition of the African Football League as the competition.
This development followed a drastically scale down from the original proposal of 24 teams to 8 teams.
The eight teams for the maiden Africa Football League will be South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns Angola’s Petro Atletico, Democratic Republic of Congo’s TP Mazembe, Al Ahly from Egypt, Horoya from Guinea, Wydad Casablanca from Morocco, Tanzania’s Simba and Esperance of Tunisia.
