Nigeria to Host CAF Awards 2026 in Lagos

Nigeria will host the 2026 CAF Awards in Lagos as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) continues to plan its major events for the coming years.
The CAF Executive Committee approved Lagos as the venue for the prestigious awards ceremony, which will take place on Monday, December 7, 2026.
The decision was made during a virtual meeting of the CAF Executive Committee, chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe, on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Nigeria will also host the CAF Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday, November 21, 2026.
The CAF Awards bring together some of the biggest names in African football and honour the continent’s top players, coaches and other football personalities.
The decision to hold the 2026 ceremony in Lagos is another major event for Nigeria, which has a long history of hosting important football competitions and events.
During the meeting, the CAF Executive Committee also approved the organisation’s competition calendar for the 2026-2030 period. The calendar is expected to help national associations, clubs and other stakeholders plan ahead.
Changes to CAF Club Competitions
CAF also approved several changes to its interclub competitions.
Under the new rules, players will be allowed to represent more than one club during the same CAF interclub season.
Clubs will also be allowed to register a maximum of 40 players at any point during the season. They can replace up to four players during the final registration period, provided those players have not played in a CAF interclub match during the season.
CAF also decided that all disciplinary cases in its interclub competitions will now be handled by the Disciplinary Board. The Interclub Committee will no longer deal with disciplinary matters.
Women’s Champions League Dates Confirmed
The Executive Committee also approved the dates for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The final tournament will take place from November 1 to 15, 2026.
Senegal to Host Beach Soccer AFCON
Senegal, the defending champions, will host the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament is scheduled to run from November 28 to December 6, 2026.
CAF also received an update on preparations for its upcoming Strategy Conference in Sal, Cabo Verde, which will take place from October 7 to 9.
With the CAF Awards and General Assembly both coming to Nigeria, Lagos is set to be at the centre of African football activities later in 2026.
