Nigeria v Cameroon: Head to head favours Nigeria – will the history favours Falcons against Lionesses tomorrow?

It will be the 10th meeting between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon when both teams play at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first semifinal of the ongoing AWCON on Tuesday.

The results of the past meetings are in favour of the Falcons but the Lioness meant business and could pull an upset just as they did in 2012.

While the Super Falcons lost one of their group games, the Indomitable Lionesses finished top of their group without losing a game.

Here is what the head to head looks like

W: Nigeria 2-2 Cameroon (Group game, AWCON 2004)
W: Nigeria 5-0 Cameroon (Final, AWCON 2004)
W: Nigeria 5-0 Cameroon (Semifinal, AWCON 2006)
W: Nigeria 1-1 Cameroon; Nigeria won 4-3 on penalties (Third place match, AWCON 2008)
W: Nigeria 5-1 Cameroon (Semifinal, AWCON 2010
W: Nigeria 2-1 Cameroon (Group game, AWCON 2012)
L: Nigeria 0-1 Cameroon (Third place match, AWCON 2012)
W: Nigeria 2-0 Cameroon (Final, AWCON 2014)
W: Nigeria 1-0 Cameroon (Final, AWCON 2016)

With eight victories and just one defeat, the history favours the Super Falcons but time will tell if it the eight-time champions will be playing in the final for their 9th AWCON title.

The match will be played at 4:30 pm Nigerian time at Accra Stadium.
