Nigeria vs Ghana: Finidi George names five defenders in starting XI like Peseiro

Interim head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Finidi George has announced his starting XI lineup for the international friendly match vs Ghana.

Like his former boss, Jose Peseiro at the 2023 AFCON, Finidi George has named five defenders in the starting eleven to face the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday evening in Marakech, Morocco.

George was appointed to take charge of the Eagles for the March international break and will test his credentials against Ghana and Mali.

Stanley Nwabali retains his position as goalkeeper after impressing during the nation’s cup. In defense, Bright Osayi-Samuel secures his spot despite a busy week that has seen his name making waves worldwide. Making his debut for the national team is youngster Benjamin Tanimu, who joins the defensive lineup alongside Semi Ajayi, Chidozie Awaziem, and Bruno Onyeamachi, completing a solid five-man defense.

In midfield, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi takes the captain’s armband and will be joined by Frank Onyeka and Wilfred Ndidi to provide stability and creativity in the middle of the park. Upfront, the attacking duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Cyriel Dessers will look to capitalize on opportunities and make an impact in the final third.
