NIGERIA WINS GOLD IN BADMINTON MIXED TEAM
Nigeria’s Badminton team won gold today in the Mixed Team Event at the African Games holding in Casablanca, Morocco.
The pair of Eneojo Joseph Abah and his wife, Peace Orji-Abah, ranked Africa’s Number 2 in the Mixed Doubles defeated African reigning Champions K. Mammeri and Linda Mazri of Algeria 21-16, 18-21, 19-21.
Africa’s number one, Anuoluwapo Opeyori, defeated Algeria’s Medel.Y.Sabri 23-21, 21-11 to make it 2-0 for Nigeria while the Women’s singles reigning Queen Dorcas Ajoke Adesokan overwhelmed Boukhsani Halla 21-13,21-14 to give Nigeria a 3-0 victory.
The mixed team events consist of the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
The winner is decided based on victory in 3 out of the 5 events.
Action continues tomorrow with the Individual Events in Casablanca.
