Nigerian blood Chiedozie Ogbene gets English Premier League Club
English Premier league new-boys Luton Town FC have announced that Nigerian blood Chiedozie Ogbene will join the club on July 1.
Luton Town made the announcement through their official website that Ogbene will complete his move to the club when his contract at Rotherham expires on June 30, 2023.
Chiedozie Ogbene despite his Nigerian blood represents the Irish National team.
Born in Lagos Nigeria, Ogbene and his family moved to Ireland in 2005 and it was there that he started his football with Cork City and Limerick.
In 2018, Ogbene moved to Brentford before a loan spell at Exeter in 2018 and subsequently followed by a move to Rotherham in 2019.
In the just concluded season, Ogbene was an ever-present part of Rotherham’s squad, with 42 appearances, scoring nine goals and assisting four others.
Following the recent announcement, the Hatters will have in Ogbene, a fourth Nigerian blood in their squad ahead of the 2023/2024 English Premier League.
Elijah Adebayo, Fred Onyedimma and Gabriel Osho are the other players with Nigerian roots in the squad.
No information per the length and financial details of Ogbene’s contract was included in the Luton Town announcement.
A full international for the Republic of Ireland, the 26-year old winger made his debut in an international friendly against Hungary on June 8, 2021.
Ogbene joins a long list of players with Nigerian blood plying their trade in the English Premier League.
