Nigerian Forward Bamidele Yusuf Scores 10th Goal as Ferencváros Draw with Panathinaikos

Nigeria forward Bamidele Yusuf continued his fine form in Europe by scoring his 10th goal of the season as Ferencváros were held 1–1 by Panathinaikos in the UEFA Europa League.

The 24-year-old gave the Hungarian champions the lead in the 62nd minute, calmly converting a penalty at the Groupama Aréna to cap another strong performance.

Ferencváros looked set to extend their unbeaten run until Panathinaikos struck back late. Substitute Anass Zaroury scored minutes after coming on, securing a point for the Greek side.

The draw keeps Ferencváros unbeaten in the competition and leaves them seventh in the group with 15 points, well placed to qualify automatically for the round of 16.

The Hungarian team now turn their attention to their final group match next Thursday, away to Nottingham Forest, where Nigerian internationals Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi play. A win would secure a top-eight finish and allow Ferencváros to avoid the play-offs.

Panathinaikos, meanwhile, improved their chances of reaching the knockout stage. They sit 19th in the group and know that a win against Roma in their last match would guarantee at least a place in the play-offs.

Yusuf has made a strong impact this season across all competitions. He has scored two goals in five Europa League matches, four goals in two Magyar Kupa games, and contributed one goal and one assist in 10 NB I league appearances.

Before moving to Hungary, Yusuf scored three goals and provided three assists in five matches for Vojvodina in Serbia’s top division.
