Nigerian Forward Ukeme Akpabio Joins Czech Club Baník Ostrava

Nigerian forward Ukeme Akpabio has completed a move to Czech Republic club FC Baník Ostrava.

The 21-year-old joins Baník Ostrava B, the club’s reserve team competing in the Czech second tier, the Chance Národní Liga.

Akpabio arrives at Baník Ostrava after a spell with Austrian side SV Wildon, where he featured in the Landesliga Steiermark and impressed with his goalscoring performances. He scored twice in a 4-1 victory over FC Weinland Gamlitz in April 2026.

His move to Baník Ostrava means Akpabio will continue his football journey in the Czech Republic, having already gained experience in both Czech and Austrian football.

Baník Ostrava are one of the traditional clubs in Czech football, with their senior team competing in the country’s top division, while the reserve side provides an important pathway for developing players.

Akpabio’s transfer represents another step forward in his young career as he looks to establish himself in European football and continue his development as a forward.
