Nigeria’s men’s and women’s table tennis teams have advanced to the next round of the team event at the African Games, continuing their pursuit of more medals in the competition.

According to updates from Ghana, both the men’s and women’s teams showcased impressive performances, securing victories to progress further in the tournament.

In the men’s team event, Nigeria’s Matthew Kuit and Amadi Omeh delivered strong performances, defeating Mauritania and DR Congo with convincing 3-0 victories in their respective matches.

Similarly, in the women’s team event, Offiong Edem, Esther Oribamise, and Fatimo Bello displayed their skill and determination, securing two wins in their group matches against Madagascar and Algeria.

With these victories, both the men’s and women’s teams have advanced to the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively, of the team event.

Joining Nigeria in the semi-finals are teams from Egypt, South Africa, and Tunisia, who also topped their respective groups. The semi-final matchups will be determined by the second-placed teams from each group.

Notably, Nigerian table tennis star Quadri Aruna claimed the silver medal in the men’s singles event, while Offiong Edem secured a bronze medal in the women’s singles event earlier in the competition.

The Nigerian contingent continues to showcase strong performances in table tennis at the African Games, aiming to add more medals to their tally as the tournament progresses.
