Nigerian trio with Primeiro de Agosto secure important away draw against Etoile to keep CAFCL knockout hopes

Nigerian trio who ply their trades in Angola with Primeiro de Agosto secured an important 1-1 away draw against Tunisian power house Etoile du Sahel on Saturday.

Kehinde Anifowoshe, Ibukun Akinfenwa and Razak Adegbite have kept their hopes of making it to the knockout stages of the on going CAF Champions League after their impressive outing in Tunisia on Saturday.

The visitors who must avoid defeat to keep their hopes of making it to the next round took the lead in the 11th minutes through Dani.

At half time the visitors who were led by Kehinde Anifowoshe in the midfield defended in numbers to prevent the hosts from getting a goal.

Primeiro de Agosto resistance could only last for 87th minutes as the Etoile du Sahel finally found the equalizer through Amine Mohamed Chermiti.

Kehinde Anifowoshe and Ibukun Akinfenwa were on the pitch for the entire duration of the game but Razak Adegbite was an unused sub.

The draw puts the visitors in a great frame to qualify for the next round despite Zesco United’s 3-0 away win against Mbabane Swallows.

Etoile du Sahel remain top of group D standing with 11 points, Primeiro de Agosto second with 6 points, Zesco United third with 5 points while Mbabane Swallows have 4 points.

Primeiro de Agosto who host Mbabane Swallows in their last group match must win to secure their place in the quarterfinals while Zesco United must beat Etoile du Sahel and hope for a result that will favour them comes out of the Angola tie.
