Nigerians Abroad: Afeez Aremu, Leke James on target; Mikel Obi, Troost-Ekong, Ken Omeruo & Taye Taiwo in action

Afeez Aremu and Leke James were on target for their clubs while retired Eagles stars Taye Taiwo, Mikel Obi; Kenneth Omeruo, Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong were all in action for their clubs over the weekend.


Ola Aina (Torino)
Olaoluwa Aina came on as a half time sub for Torino in their 2-1 win against Sassuolo to start their Serie A season with a win.

William Troost-Ekong (Udinese)
Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong played 90 mins as Udinese secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against AC Milan.

Kingsley Michael (Bologna)
Kingsley Michael played 77 minutes for Bologna as the start their Serie A campaign with a 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona.


Samuel Eduok (Hajduk Split)

Samuel Eduok played 52 mins in Hajduk Split 1-0 loss against Osijek in the Ccroatia top league.


Abdulrahman Taiwo (DAC 1904)

Abdulrahman Taiwo played 61 mins for Dac 1904 Dunajska in their 2-1 win against his former team FCNitra in the Slovakia Superliga.


Anderson Esiti, Chuba Akpom (Paok)
Nigerian duo of Anderson Esiti and former Arsenal prodigy Chuba Akpom were in action for Paok FC as they opened up their 2019/2020 Greece Superleague season with a 2-1 win against Panetolikos.


Kenneth Omeruo (Leganés)
Former Chelsea star Kenneth Omeruo was unlucky to be on the losing side in Leganés 1-0 loss to La Liga favourites Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

He was on the pitch for 77 minutes.


John Mikel Obi, Anthony Nwakaeme (Trabzonspor )

Anthony Nwakaeme was on the pitch from start to finish as Trabzonspor secure a 2-1 win against Yeni Malatyaspor but his compatriot, John Obi Mikel was introduced in the second half.


Taye Taiwo (RoPS)
Taye Taiwo was on the pitch the entire duration of the game as 10th place RoPS earned a comfortable 3-0 win against FC Lahti in the Finish Veikkausliga on Sunday.


Afeez Aremu (IK Start)
Afeez Aremu was on target for his Norwegian club on Sunday. The former Sunshine Star midfielder scored the winning goal in IK Start’s 2-1 win against Raufoss in the Norwegian first division game.

Leke James (Molde FK)
Sharp striker, Leke James was on target in Molde’s 2-2 draw against Odd Sbk in the Norwegian top flight game.


Abdul Ajagun (Kortrijk)
Former Golden Eagles star Abdul Ajagun was on the pitch as Kortrijk suffered a 2-1 loss against Standard Liege in the Belgian Jupilier Pro League.
