Nigerians Abroad: Chukwueze too hot, Simy scores again, Mikel loses 5 straight games, Onyekuru fails to inspire

There was no hiding place for Samuel Umtiti, Clément Lenglet and Jordi Alba as they took turns to receive punishment from Samuel Chukwueze. The Nigerian was too hot for Barcelona defenders.

Here is a recap of how Nigerian players involved on Tuesday faired.

Samuel Chukwueze (Villarrreal)

He assisted a goal and scored a goal in Villarreal’s 4-4 draw against Barcelona on Tuesday.

He was a constant threat, shredding Barcelona defenders at every given opportunity. The goal he scored is his 7th of the season in all competitions while the assists is his 3rd.

Simeone Nwankwo (Crotone)

Simy was on target as Crotone beat Perugia 2-0 in their Serie B clash on Tuesday.

Simeone Nwankwo scored the first goal to increase his goal tally to increase tally to 6 goals in the last four games.

Mikel Obi (Middlesbrough)

Not the best of times for Super Eagles captain Mike Obi and his club Middlesbrough as they suffered yet another home defeat on Tuesday.

Bristol City pipped Middlesbrough 1-0 Riverside last night to condemn Boro to their 4th consecutive home losses and five straight losses in total.

The defeats have put a dent on their promotion hopes. Mikel was involved in the match.

Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray)

Henry Onyekuru was in the pitch for 83 minutes but was unable to inspire Galatasaray as they were forced to a goalless draw in their Turkish Cup semi first leg at Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi Turk Telekom Stadium on Tuesday by Yeni Malatyaspor.

Henry and his team mates must beat giant slayers Yeni Malatyaspor in the return fixture next week.
