Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets aim for first 2024 WAFU B U-17 Championship win against Niger Republic

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are set to face Niger Republic in a crucial match at the WAFU B U-17 Championship, scheduled to take place at the University Stadium on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

The Nigerian team, tutored by coach Manu Garba, is determined to secure their first victory in the tournament after a goalless draw against Burkina Faso in their opening match on Thursday.

Following the draw, the Golden Eaglets observed a rest day on Friday but were back in training on Saturday to prepare for the important game against Niger. The defending champions need a win to boost their chances of advancing to the semi-finals.

Niger Republic currently tops Group B after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Benin Republic in their first game. This win has put pressure on the Golden Eaglets, who must overcome the Nigeriens to keep their hopes of progressing in the tournament alive.
