NLO: Campos FC and A&A FC Suspended Over 15-2 Match-Fixing Scandal
The Nationwide League One (NLO) Disciplinary Committee has announced the indefinite suspension of Campos FC and A&A FC following a controversial 15-2 scoreline in their recent league fixture, which has raised serious concerns of match-fixing.
The match in question was played on May 9, 2025, at the AKWA Centre, with Campos FC recording a staggering 15-2 victory over A&A FC. According to the NLO, a discreet investigation was launched to examine the circumstances surrounding the unusual result.
Following its sitting, the NLO Disciplinary Committee issued a statement confirming the suspension of both clubs, citing match compromise.
“After thorough deliberation, the Committee has reached the following decisions:
-
The match is hereby cancelled due to clear evidence of compromise.
-
Campos FC and A&A FC are suspended indefinitely pending final determination of the case by the Nigeria Football Integrity Unit.
-
All match officials involved in the game—including the four referees and the match commissioner—are to step down and are suspended from further football-related engagements.
-
All players and officials of both clubs are also suspended indefinitely, subject to further review and ratification by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).”
The NLO further warned both clubs to fully comply with these rulings, stressing that failure to do so may attract additional disciplinary sanctions.
The league body reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s domestic football and urged all stakeholders to uphold the principles of fair play and sportsmanship.
“We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to fair play in Nigeria football development. This decision is open to appeal at the Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary Committee.”
The case is now awaiting the outcome of a deeper investigation by the Nigeria Football Integrity Unit, which will determine the final fate of the suspended clubs, players, and match official
