Nnadozie sends message to young girls dreaming to become footballers after CAF award win

After her 2023 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award win, Nigerian goalkeper Chiamaka Nnadozie sent a message to young girls in Africa dreaming to become footballers.

Nnadozie was crowned Africa’s women best goalkeeper for 2023 at the award ceremony in Marrackech Morocco on Monday, December 11, 2023.

Immediately after receiving her prize, a well deserved one in recorgnition of her sterling performances for the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and at her club Paris FC, the 22-year old recalled how her father who never wanted her to become a footballer will be proud of her feat.

” To all the young girls growing up in Africa, dreaming of becoming a footballer one day, believe me dreams do come true,” she said after receiving the award.

“My dad didn’t want me to play football but I’m sure he’s gonna see this and be happy.

“So, keep dreaming, keep working and I believe that one day you’ll get to this stage.”

Nigeria flourished at the 2023 CAF awards ceremony.

While Nnadozie was named the Women’s best goalkeeper, compatriot Asisat Oshoala was crowned Women’s footballer of the year for a sixth-time while the Super Falcons of Nigeria won the national team of the year award.

In the Men’s category, Napoli and Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, was named the footballer of the year, becoming the first Nigerian to win the awrd since 1999.
