NNL Kicks Off Today with Basira–Jets Clash in Lafia
The long-awaited 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season officially kicks off today, with FC Basira of Lafia set to host Mighty Jets FC of Jos in the opening match.
Originally, a different fixture was meant to start the season, but due to stadium suitability issues, the Basira vs Jets encounter was chosen to launch the campaign.
Tagged “The Most Important League”, the NNL serves as Nigeria’s key pathway to top-flight football, and excitement is already building across the country. The full season begins on 16 November, but today’s curtain-raiser in Lafia has drawn strong interest from fans and stakeholders.
