NNL: Last-gasp FC ONE Rockets goal secures victory over Warri Wolves FC in season opener

A last gasp goal by FC ONE Rockets midfielder Bright Osah seal a 2-1 win over Warri Wolves in the opening game of the 2022/2023 NNL season.

The first game of the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League season looked headed for a stalemate before former Bendel Insurance Midfielder Bright Osah struck with a stoppage time winner.

It was FC ONE Rockets who broke the deadlock through striker Goodnews Paul in the 45th minute of play.

A cross from Bidemi Obudu caused a scramble In the Warri Wolves penalty area before Goodnews Paul fired home the first goal of the Nigeria National League season.

The Indomitables will take the 1-0 lead into the half-time break at the 18,000 capacity Eket Stadium on Saturday evening.

The intensity of play increased in the second half but there were no clear cut chances at both ends until the final minutes of play.

Warri Wolves substitute Okere Shedrach finished off a well worked team move by the Wolves to level scores in the 89th minute and spark wild jubilation from the away teams end.

Like Indomitables, FC ONE Rockets responded positively to the set-back and were back in front two minutes later .

In the first of five minutes added on after the 90, Bright Osah connected Samuel Anietie’s cross to score the winning goal and secure maximum points for Coach Ndubuisi Ndah tutored FC ONE Rockets.

It finished 2-1, FC ONE Rockets with the win over Warri Wolves FC in Group B1 of the 2023 NNL season.

The only game of the week, other Nigeria National League matchday one matches are scheduled to take place from March 18, 2023 across various venues in Nigeria.

The Nigeria National League is the second tier of league football in Nigeria.
