NNL Super 8: Mboama brace helps Katsina United FC to victory over DMD FC
Former Enyimba FC striker Victor Mboama scored a brace to help Katsina United FC to a 2-1 NNL Super 8 playoffs win over DMD FC.
Their first game of the playoffs and second fixture on matchday one, Katsina United FC had to win in order to march Kano Pillars who earlier defeated EFCC 1-0 in the opening game.
In a domineering opening ten minutes , Victor Mboama who was signed ahead of the NNL Super 8 playoffs, scored twice to hand Katsina United FC a 2-0 lead.
That lead Usman Abdullah’s men maintained until the second half when Borno based DMD FC pulled one back to setup a frenzy finale at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba Delta State.
Katsina United FC held on to seal a 2-1 win and leapfrog Pillars to take top spot in the 4-team Northern Conference section at the Nigeria National League Super 8 playoffs.
In their next game, Katsina United FC will take on EFCC, a win in that match will seal their return to the Nigeria Premier League, with a game vs Kano Pillars FC to spare.
The third game of Matchday One will pitch Sporting Lagos FC vs FC ONE Rocket by 2pm at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba Delta State.
