There were no spaces for Nigerian stars as CAF named their best eleven African players for the year 2019.
The exclusion of the likes of Odion Ighalo, Wilfred Ndidi and William Troost Ekong have raised eyebrows.
Odion Ighalo who was the top scorer for the AFCON 2019 qualifiers and the tournament itself was omitted.
Wilfred Ndidi who is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League an important player to second placed Leicester City was also excluded.
William Troost-Ekong who also helped Nigeria finished third at the 2019 AFCON was not included as well.
Ekong was a constant figure in Nigeria’s defence, he was the best defender for both club and country.
