Not just Hakimi but for Lookman: Why PSG President attended CAF Awards ceremony

Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has revealed exclusive details about Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) interest in Ademola Lookman.

Speaking on the sidelines of the CAF Awards, West shared insider information that PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, attended the event with a dual purpose — to support his player Achraf Hakimi and to facilitate a potential transfer for Lookman.

West, now 50 and retired, explained that he has close contacts in France who work closely with the Parisian club. These sources informed him that PSG is keen on securing Lookman’s services. According to West, the French giants had made a move for the Nigerian forward last summer, but a deal fell through due to Atalanta’s high asking price, despite both parties agreeing on the player’s wages. However, West hinted that PSG remains determined to make another attempt at signing Lookman in the future.

“PSG’s interest in Lookman is strong,” West said. “The presence of Al-Khelaifi at the CAF Awards wasn’t solely for Hakimi. He was there to show support for the Moroccan, yes, but also to discuss a transfer for Lookman.”

West further revealed that PSG head coach Luis Enrique is looking for a versatile forward, someone who can play across the entire attacking line. This makes Lookman, who has impressed with his performances at Atalanta, an attractive target for the Parisians.

The insider also told West that PSG’s interest in Lookman is more than just a fleeting interest, signaling that the club’s pursuit of the Nigerian forward could intensify in the near future.
