Not Osimhen! Arsenal eye cheaper alternative to Nigerian striker

Arsenal’s quest for a striker ahead of the upcoming season has led them to turn their gaze towards the Bundesliga, with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen considered too expensive.

Manager Mikel Arteta has experimented with various players in the central forward position, ultimately favoring former Chelsea player Kai Havertz. However, the Gunners have been actively exploring other options, with their pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen hampered by financial considerations.

Now, reports from the Telegraph suggest that Arsenal have turned attention to a Liepzig striker who will cost less than the release clause for Victor Osimhen as included in his Napoli contract.

The Gunners have emerged as frontrunners in the race to secure the services of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The 18-year-old’s release clause, which initially stood at £42 million, has reportedly soared to around £64 million after meeting certain performance targets in his contract. Sesko’s impressive debut season in Germany saw him netting 17 goals in 41 appearances, attracting attention from several top clubs.

Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his squad with reliable attacking firepower, especially after two seasons where the team has shown promise but fallen short of expectations.

While Sesko is a priority target for Arsenal, he is not the sole striker under consideration. The Gunners are also keeping tabs on Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres, indicating a thorough search for the right fit to lead their frontline.
