NPFL: Four Teams Level on Points as Bendel Insurance, Kano Pillars Close in on Summit
Bendel Insurance and Kano Pillars have strengthened their chances in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title race after recording important victories on Sunday to move level on points with Rivers United and Enugu Rangers.
The development followed a 1-1 draw between Rivers United and Rangers at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The result allowed Bendel Insurance and Kano Pillars to close the gap at the top after both teams secured maximum points in their Matchday 11 fixtures.
Bendel Insurance recorded a 2-1 away win against Kwara United, while Kano Pillars defeated Nasarawa United 2-0 at home.
Despite the four teams being level on points, Rivers United maintained their position at the top of the table on goal difference. Rangers sit second, followed by Bendel Insurance and Kano Pillars.
Elsewhere, Shooting Stars recorded the biggest victory of the matchday, thrashing Abia Warriors 4-1.
Enyimba edged Kun Khalifat 1-0, while Inter Lagos and Ranchers Bees played out a 1-1 draw.
Katsina United also claimed a 2-1 victory over Sporting Lagos, while Plateau United and Warri Wolves shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
The results have made the title race more competitive, with four clubs now sharing the same number of points at the top of the NPFL standings.
