NPFL: Go Round go past Sunshine Stars in Omoku

Okon Otop’s first half header helped Go Round FC to a narrow 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars in a thrilling Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 12 contest at the Krisdera Hotels Stadium, Omoku on Sunday.

After a tight and adventurous early rush by both sides, Otop broke the deadlock for the hosts with the first clear cut chance of the game.

The striker met a floated cross with a flying header in the 32nd minute and had the net bubble, sending the home crowd into a frenzy mood.

Omotayo Adebogun came close to restoring parity for the visitors just before the break but his volley from Ezekiel Thompson’s delivery was put out by Go Round’s goalkeeper, Stanlet Nwabali.

In the 74th minute Abiodun Joseph picked out Franklin Sasere with an incisive cross however the big-framed striker’s headed effort was easily collected by Nwabali from six yards out.

The biggest opportunity to draw level fell to the hardworking Thompson through a lose ball inside the area, surprisingly the striker opted for a wrong pass instead of shooting at goal moments before the end of the game.

At the post match presser coach Duke Udi who congratulated Go Round on their win rued his side’s missed chances during the game and decried the restriction on his new players.

_”Congratulations to Go Round on the win, they gave us a good fight and took their chance but we didn’t take our own chances. We are restricted from using most of our new players, am forced to make do with what I have and it’s not easy.”_ Udi said.
