NPFL: Kwara United appoints Bala as new manager

Coach Abubakar Bala is now the substantive technical adviser of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) newcomers, Kwara United.

The Flying Eagles assistant coach last coached NPFL side and 2017 Aiteo Cup runners-up, Niger Tornadoes. He will be unveiled to the public on Wednesday, March 14 in llorin, Kwara state.

The management of the llorin side on Monday mutually and officially disengaged the former gaffer, John Obuh as the head of the top-flights.

Obuh’s last assignment with the Harmony Boys the side he brought to the top-flight from the Nigeria National League (NNL) was Sunday’s NPFL matchday 12 clash against visiting El Kanemi Warriors which ended one goal apiece at the Kwara Sate Stadium in llorin.

Bala said the management of the llorin outfit specifically asked him to steer the side presently rooted at the bottom of the 20-nteam elite league out of relegation in the on-going top-flight.

“I am right now the technical adviser of Kwara United. Bala told SuperSport.

“Somebody a senior colleague in the coaching profession jokingly said the problem at Kwara United is too overwhelming and weighty than my youthful body could be able to shoulder.

“Well, my experience as a premier league coach with Niger Tornadoes where I took the side from the 17th position midseason to finish at the 11th position as well as my national team experience I sincerely do not believe the job at Kwara United is bigger than me to handle.

“I and the management agreed that there are lots of things not in its proper places in the team that needed to be addressed.
Kwara United are at the bottom of the 20-team top-flight log on 11 points 12 behind league leaders, Lobi Stars.
