NPFL Matchday 1 results and standings
The 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League kick-started across the Federation on Sunday.
A total of 6 games were played across the centers. The only away win was recorded at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo where El-Kanemi Warriors stunned Akwa United.
The goal was scored in the last minute of the game after Ojo Olorunleke in attempt to dribble lost the ball to Ba’akaka Azikoro who made no mistakes.
Kwara United and Sunshine Stars played a 1-1 draw in Ilorin. Kwara had the chance to take the lead in the 15th minute of tbe game but Sunshine GK Ariyo dived in the right direction to save Segun Alebiosu’s spot kick.
Sasere Franklin put Sunshine Stars ahead after lobbing the ball over Kwara United goalkeeper in the 41st minute. Seun Olulayo scored an own goal in the 70th minute to draw Kwara United level.
Abdullahi Abubakar scored the only goal in the game between Nasarawa United and Abia Warriors.
Makama’s cross was cushioned by Abdullahi Abubakar with Abia defence ball-watching and he made no error in shooting the ball beyond GK Okafor to put Nasarawa in front in the 20th minute.
Chinedu Sunday scored the goal in the game involving Kano Pillars and Heartland. His goal came in in the 16th minute of the clash.
Nelson Ogbonnaya and Abdulrahman Bashir scored in the 13th and 54th minutes to Enyimba beat MFM.
