NPFL Matchday 32: Plateau United close gap to Rivers United, Enyimba lose ground

Abia Warriors pick up Oriental Derby win, Dakkada keep fighting

Plateau United claimed an important win in their NPFL Matchday 32 clash against Kano Pillars at the New Jos Stadium. The Peace Boys picked up a 1-0 win thanks to a first-half strike from striker Akila Jesse. The win cuts Rivers United’s lead at the top of the table to seven points with six games left in the season.

Rivers United fell to a defeat at the hands of Wikki Tourist in Bauchi as a Manu Garba strike gave the home side a 1-0 win over the log leaders in their NPFL Matchday 32 encounter.

Remo Stars returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over visiting Gombe United at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. Experienced striker Sikiru Alimi scored the game’s only goal to return the Sky Blue Stars to fourth place.

Kwara United defeated Katsina United at the Kwara State Sports Complex in their NPFL Matchday 32 encounter by two goals to nothing. Goals in each half from Issa Gata and Junior Lokosa gave the Afonja Warriors the maximum points from the game.

Relegation-threatened Dakkada prevailed over Shooting Stars at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo by two unreplied goals. Promising youngster Emmanuel Ayaosi opened the scoring for the Chosen Ones before captain Aniekan Ekpe added a second in the second half from an assist from Ayaosi.

Sunshine Stars defeated visiting Nasarawa United 2-1 in their NPFL Matchday 32 encounter in Akure. Goals in the opening 15 minutes from Chigozie Chilekwu and Leonard Ugochukwu put the Owena Whales ahead before veteran striker Chinedu Ohanachom pulled one back for the Solid Miners late in the game.

Both MFM FC and Lobi Stars remained in the relegation zone following a goalless draw between them in their clash.

Niger Tornadoes defeated Enyimba 2-1 in their NPFL Matchday 32 clash. Munir Idris opened the scoring for the Ikon Allah Boys before Emeka Obioma equalised for the visitors. Musa Wakili scored from the spot on the cusp of half-time to secure the win for his side.

Heartland picked up a shock 1-0 win at home to Akwa United in Owerri. Adewole Adeniji scored the game’s only goal to give his side maximum points and boost their bid to beat the drop.

Abia Warriors defeated Rangers in the day’s only Oriental Derby at the Okigwe Township Stadium, with goals from Valentine Odoh, his 11th of the campaign, and Paul Samson either side of the half-time whistle giving the Umuahia Landlords maximum points from the encounter.
