NPFL: Seka Pascal wonder goal wins it for FCIU

FC IfeanyiUbah took on Nasarawa United at the FC IfeanyiUbah International Stadium in Match Day 10 of the ongoing 2017/2018 Nigerian Professional Football League Season emerging unscathed with all three points in the bag in a titanic rematch between the two finalists of the 2016 NFF Federations cup now known as the AITEO Cup.
Tactician Ladan Bosso made three changes to the side that lost to Katsina United last Sunday as Bamba Drissa and Osia Felix came in for Tambe Charles and Traore Issif respectively with Anyanwu Chidiebere handed a debut appearance as he came in for injured Bright Onyedikachi.
The game began in a frenetic pace as the Anambra Warriors went on the attack in a bid to open the scoring as Daberechi Anyanwu and Awazie Ekene missed couple of chances in the first ten minutes of the game while Msonter Shimaga and Seka Pascal had their efforts close but still off target in a first half that regardless of the fast start had just a few notable chances to reckon.
The second half started like the first did but this time around really had a lot of compelling action starting in the 50th minute with the Skipper Ikeokwu Patrick laying the ball to utility player Chidume Onyekachi who’s shot was straight at the wall in a set piece situation.

The return of the fleet footed Yaya Kone who came into the game in the 51st minute for Anyanwu Chidiebere made the difference by adding an edge to the attack of the NPFL Warriors as he was the orchestrator of the masterpiece of a goal in the 54th minute. Kone’s smart dummy of Shittu Abdulbasit was precise and in that moment he squared the ball to compatriot Seka Pascal who dribbled, befuddled and bamboozled not just one but two of his markers to unleash a curler of a fantastic and sensational finish over Goalkeeper Emmanuel Benson and into the top left corner to send the Fortress into raptures in a phenomenal display from the mercurial one who’s brilliance separated both sides in this encounter.
The Ivorian world class and stupendous finish was the highpoint of the second half that saw a couple of near misses including Kone’s wonderful bicycle kick off Awazie’s cross that was just inches wide and then the unexpected miss from Adeboye Gabriel who was free on goal but glanced his header high and off target after a brilliant cross to him from a corner kick by the influential Yaya Kone as the official called time on the game.
The Anambra Warriors now ascend to 11th on the log with this win and will look to sustain the momentum when they visit the Yakubu Gowon Stadium Port Harcourt in a week’s time to trade tackles with Rivers United.
