NPFL Super Six: Day One Round Up

The Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Championship Playoff also known as the Super Six got underway at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos on Tuesday with Lobi Stars the biggest winners of match day one fixtures.

The day’s matchday started when a Joseph Osadiaye’s effort was all Enyimba needed in a cagey affair to earn a 1-0 win over Rangers Intl with Usman Ab’dallah expressing satisfaction with the result.

Akwa United and Kano Pillars played out a thrilling encounter in a four goal thriller, Pillars took the lead as early as the third minute when David Ebuka scored but Sai Musa Gida were pegged back on the half hour mark when Ndifreke Effiong headed Akwa United level.

Kano Pillars retook the lead almost immediately when Nyima Nwagua scofed5 from a goal mouth scramble.

Moments later, Akwa Utd exploited Pillars’ aerial frailty to their benefit as Godspower Aniefiok heads in the equalizer.

All four goals would eventually be scored in the first half as the match ended in a stalemate with Kano Pillars being reduced to 10 men when Ifeanyi Nweke was shown his marching orders.

In the last game of the day played under floodlight, Samad Kadiri’s brace and a Sikiru Alimi’ effort saw Lobi Stars defeat FC Ifeanyi Ubah 3-1.
