‘ NPFL title race still wide open ‘ – Lobi Stars Coach declares
Lobi Stars’ head coach Eugene Agagbe says that the 2023/2024 NPFL season remains wide open for any team to clinch the title, following their recent 1-1 draw with Bayelsa United. The declaration comes after Rangers moved ahead of Lobi Stars to claim the top spot on the league table.
Reflecting on the draw, Agagbe expressed motivation to intensify efforts, emphasising that Lobi Stars have not conceded the league to any team. He acknowledged the setback but remained resolute about the team’s prospects in the remaining matches.
“I won’t dwell on the result because it’s part of the game. We beat them on their turf, and they came here to salvage a point, which they got,” stated Agagbe.
The player lamented a loss of focus among some teammates but stressed the importance of rectifying mistakes for future matches, ensuring better performances away from home.
Highlighting the ongoing competitiveness of the league, Agagbe affirmed Lobi Stars’ determination to secure a top-three finish and potentially lift the trophy. He dismissed premature assumptions about the league winner, citing the unpredictability of football.
“I haven’t handed the trophy to anyone yet because anything can happen. We could also snatch it away. This draw only motivates me to work harder for the next game,” Agagbe added confidently.
With eleven games remaining, Lobi Stars remain optimistic about their chances, aiming to capitalize on upcoming opportunities to solidify their position in the league standings.
