NPFL week 32 summary: Enugu Rangers maintains lead

Enugu Rangers continued their impressive form in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by defeating Plateau United 2-0 on Sunday, securing a vital win to retain their position at the top of the table with six games to the end of the season.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored Rangers demonstrated their title aspirations with a strong performance, as goals from Chiedozie Okorie and Godwin Obaje ensured they claimed all three points in the encounter.

Meanwhile, defending champions Enyimba kept the pressure on their rivals in the title race with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Katsina United in Aba. Chijioke Mbaoma’s goal at the hour mark proved to be the difference, as the People’s Elephants maintained their pursuit of the league leaders.

In another significant fixture, former champions Akwa United boosted their survival hopes with an impressive 3-0 win over Kano Pillars at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. Ubong Friday’s brace, coupled with a goal from Sani Mubarak, sealed a convincing victory for Akwa United.

Elsewhere, at the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe United secured a thrilling 3-2 win over Lobi Stars in a closely contested encounter.

In other matches, Sporting Lagos emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over Abia Warriors, with Jonathan Alukwu scoring twice for the hosts, while Peter Onyekachi and Junior Lokosa also found the target. Abia Warriors managed to get on the scoresheet through Sunday Megwo and Prince Okorie.
