NPFL23 Matchday 15: Insurance return to winning ways as Doma United continue to impress

Akwa United, Plateau, Shooting Stars all win

Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten run to 15 games after a 2-1 win over struggling El-Kanemi Warriors at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin. The Group A leaders went ahead through Ismael Sarki and Austin Ogunye before Muhammad Hussaini pulled one back from the penalty spot for the visitors. The Benin Arsenal have now equalled Enyimba’s record of 15 unbeaten matches from the start of a season.

Doma United continued their rise in Group B with a 2-1 win over Bayelsa United at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe. Charles Chibuike and Hillary Ekaiwu gave the Savannah Tigers a two-goal lead before Fabby Clark scored a consolation goal for the Prosperity Boys.

Remo Stars picked up an admirable point away to Enyimba in their Matchday 15 meeting in Aba. The match ended 1-1 with Phillip Odubia opening the scoring for the Sky Blue Stars before Enyimba found a very late equaliser through Chijioke Mbaoma. Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole was immense for his side, keeping out a penalty from top scorer Chukwuemeka Obioma and making a string of impressive saves.

Plateau United defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 in their NPFL23 Matchday 15 encounter in Jos. Silas Nenrot scored the game’s only goal to give the Peace Boys maximum points at home.

Akwa United eased past Kwara United to return to second place in Group A, claiming a 3-1 win in Uyo. First-half goals from Taiye Muritala, Cyril Olisema and Ubong Friday put the Promise Keepers in control before Samad Kadiri pulled one back for Kwara United.

Shooting Stars continued their fine run of form with a comprehensive 3-0 spanking of Gombe United in Ibadan in their NPFL23 Matchday 15 clash. Taofeek Malomo, Godwin Udoh and Douglas Achiv gave the Oluyole Warriors maximum points from the encounter.

Relegation-threatened Dakkada FC were held at home to a 1-1 draw by Rangers. The visitors went ahead through Austin Onyemaechi before Kufre Ebong equalised for the Chosen Ones to earn a draw.

Sunshine Stars defeated Group B leaders Lobi Stars in their Matchday 15 meeting in Akure. David Onovo scored the only goal of the game to give the Owena Waves all three points.

Niger Tornadoes trounced Abia Warriors by three unreplied goals in their NPFL23 Matchday 15 meeting. A brace from Munir Idris and a third goal from David Okoromi sent the Ikon Allah Boys to fourth place in Group B.
