NPFL23 Matchday Six: Gombe United halt Bendel Insurance streak as Abia Warriors defeat Dakkada

Gombe United became the first team to stop the rampaging Bendel Insurance as they played out a goalless draw in their NPFL23 Matchday Six clash at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin. The league leaders extended their lead to four points following the draw. Bendel Insurance have now picked up 16 points from the opening six matches while the Savannah Scorpions have claimed seven points from six games.

Abia Warriors claimed a huge away win in their NPFL23 Matchday Six fixture as they defeated Dakkada FC 4-2 in Uyo. The Umuahia Landlords delivered an impeccable performance to claim a second away win of the season and move to 12 points from six games.

Emmanuel Onu opened the scoring after 27 minutes for the visitors after pouncing on a loose ball before John Peter doubled their advantage three minutes into the second half. Emmanuel Ayaosi pulled one back for Dakkada after 65 minutes before Felix Aniekwe restored Abia Warriors’ two-goal cushion in the 79th minute. Captain Aniekan Ekpe scored for Dakkada in the 84th minute to set up a tense finale before Monday Yakubu scored in the 90th minute to round off the scoring.
