NPFL24 Matchday Six: Remo Stars go top after 3SC thrashing, Sporting Lagos defeated in Ilorin

Akwa United pick up first win, Kano Pillars cruise over Bayelsa

Remo Stars returned to the summit of the NPFL following a comprehensive 3-0 win over South-West rivals, Shooting Stars, in Ikenne. Academy graduate Ahmed Akinyẹle opened the scoring for the Sky Blue Stars before Sikiru Alimi scored twice, his fourth and fifth of the season, to seal the points.

Kwara United came from behind to hand Sporting Lagos a 2-1 defeat in their NPFL24 Matchday Six clash in Ilorin. Jonathan Alukwu opened the scoring for the Tech Boys with his third goal of the campaign inside the opening minute. Kwara United levelled matters with a controversial penalty from Isaiah Ejeh on the stroke of halftime before Ifeanyi Odimmega secured the points in the 86th minute for the home side.

Fatai Osho picked up his first win as Akwa United boss as he led the Promise Keepers to a 1-0 win over Gombe United at home. Kufre Ebong scored the only goal of the game for Osho’s side.

Kano Pillars strolled to a 3-0 win over Bayelsa United at the Sani Abacha Stadium in their NPFL24 Matchday Six meeting. Mubarak Sani opened the scoring for Sai Masu Giada before Rabiu Ali scored his second of the season for the side. Abba Adam scored the third goal late in the day to round off the scoring.

Heartland held Rivers United to a 1-1 draw in their Matchday Six clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. Onyekachi Okafor opened the scoring for the Naze Millionaires before Farouk Mohammed levelled matters with a well-taken free-kick.

Plateau United picked up all three points at home to Katsina United with a 1-0 win in Jos. Chris Nwaeze scored the game’s only goal in the first half of the encounter.

Sunshine Stars came from behind to defeat Abia Warriors 2-1 in their NPFL24 Matchday Six clash in Akure. Ojonugwa Adejoh opened the scoring for the Umuahia Landlords before Ekerette Udom equaliser for the home side. Highly-rated midfielder Michael Olalusi scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

Niger Tornadoes held champions Enyimba to a goalless draw in their clash in Kaduna.
