NPL Rumours: Joseph Atule demands #4m signing-on fee for Rivers United move
Lobi Stars forward asks for #1m monthly salary
Rivers United have seen their approach for Lobi Stars forward Joseph Atule hit a snag as the winger has made a U-turn regarding his demands for the transfer.
Atule was one of the standout performers in NPFL23 as he propelled the Prosperity Boys to a place in the Super Six with consistent showings during the regular season. His form and consistency caught the eyes of Rivers United, who approached him over a move to the Garden City this off-season.
According to various reports, the winger had reached an agreement to join the Pride of Rivers on a #600,000 monthly pay, only for counter reports to emerge in the last hours to debunk those rumours.
Atule, who was the top scorer of the just-concluded Federation Cup, is now requesting for a monthly salary in the region of #1m and a two-year contract with Rivers United, as well as a signing-on bonus of #4m to join them.
Rivers United are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of a second season in the CAF Confederation Cup and will be keen to wrap up a deal for the dynamic winger as soon as possible.
