Nwakali reacts to player of the match award win in Portugal
Former Golden Eaglets skipper, Kelechi Nwakali has reacted to his player of the match win after starring in Chaves 2-1 victory over Vizela in Portugal.
Nwakali was instrumental as Chaves returned to winning ways with a win that pulls them out of the drop zone in Portugal’s Primera Liga.
Hector Hernandez and Jo scored for Chaves who recovered from a 12th minute strike by Essende for the visitors.
After the encounter, Nwakali on his X handle explained the feeling of starting the new month with a win and player of the match award.
He wrote : “3 points, Man of the match. Best way to say happy new month. We move @gdchaves1949.”
That win took Chaves out of the relegation zone up to 15th on 10 points in the 18-team table.
Nwakali has four appearances for the Super Eagles after making his debut in 2018.
The 25-year-old was part of the Super Eagles squad that reached the 2021 AFCON round of 16 stage.
