Andy Murray reunites with coach Ivan Lendl

Andy Murray has announced that he will be reunited with coach Ivan Lendl ahead of the grass-court season.

Two-time grand-slam champion Murray split with Amelie Mauresmo last month and said he was in no hurry to appoint a replacement, with Jamie Delgado stepping up to take the role of coach.

The Brit, who was beaten by Novak Djokovic in his first French Open final last Sunday, enjoyed a successful spell under the tutelage of legendary Czech Lendl until the pair cut their ties two years ago.

Murray’s two grand slam wins at the 2012 US Open and Wimbledon the following year both came during his initial spell with Lendl.

He recently expressed his desire to work with Lendl once again and on Sunday the Scot confirmed that he has employed his former coach before playing at Queen’s.

“I had two very successful years working with Ivan, he’s single-minded and knows what it takes to win the big events.” Murray said in a widely reported statement.

“I’m looking forward to Ivan joining the team again and helping me try and reach my goals.”

Defending champion Murray will face Nicolas Mahut in the first round at Queen’s, which starts on Monday.
