Odion Ighalo joins elite company after finishing as 2019 AFCON qualifiers top scorer

Super Eagles striker has joined an elite company after helping Nigeria to qualify for the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt in grandstyle.

The Shanghai Shenhua striker was tied with Burundi’s Fiston Abdul Razak going into the final round of games but became clear leader after scoring in Nigeria’s 3-1 win against Seychelles on Friday.

While Fiston Abdul Razak failed to score in Burundi’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against Gabon, Odion Jude Ighalo became the 2019 AFCON qualifiers top scorer with 7 goals.

With 7 goals as 2019 AFCON qualifiers top scorer, Odion Jude Ighalo would be mentioned in the same breathe as African legends like Samuel Eto’o Fils, Didier Drogba and Ikechukwu Uche who in the past have been the top scorers in the past qualifiers.
