OFFICIAL: Kelechi Iheanacho joins Sevilla
La Liga giants Sevilla FC have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho from Leicester City. The forward, who had a seven-year stint with the East-Midlands club, has joined Sevilla on a two-year contract, ending his free agency.
Iheanacho, who was a standout at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, brings considerable attacking prowess to Sevilla. His transfer comes after a successful period at Leicester, where he was a key player alongside fellow Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi.
The Super Eagles star had been a target for several top European clubs, but Sevilla emerged as the frontrunner to secure his signature. The signing is a significant boost for the seven-time Europa League champions, enhancing their offensive options for the upcoming season.
Sevilla has also recently signed Chidera Ejuke, creating a strong Nigerian presence in their squad. Iheanacho’s arrival will see him reunite with Ejuke, further strengthening the club’s connection with Nigerian football.
The official Sevilla FC Twitter account welcomed Iheanacho with the message: “ Kelechi Iheanacho, incorporación para la delantera sevillista. ¡Bienvenido! #WeareSevilla.”
This addition is expected to bolster Sevilla’s attacking lineup as they prepare for the new season.
