Officials deny European Super League talks

Officials of English football’s five biggest clubs did not hold discussions over a breakaway European Super Leagueyesterday afternoon, according to a report.

It was speculated that representatives of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpoolhad all met with American billionaire Stephen Ross at London’s Dorchester Hotel.

During the meeting, it was claimed that negotiations were held regarding the introduction of a division that extinguished the risk of missing out on the revenue provided by European football, thus ending the Champions League as a competition.

However, Press Association Sport have claimed that the main subject of the talks was in fact the International Champions Cup – a tournament that Ross helped to create.

The ICC is a pre-season tournament that is played over a number of venues across the world.
