Ogu on target, Nwakaeme fires blank as Hapoel Beer Sheva crash out of Champions League

Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu and striker, Anthony Nwakaeme started and played thorough out as their Isreali club played a 2-2 draw at the Turner Stadium Be’er Sheva on Tuesday.

After going down 5-0 to Croatian side, Dinamo Zagreb, John Ogu, Anthony Nwakaeme and co knew they must do the unthinkable to overcome the deficit.

They quickly went ahead through John Ogu in the 14th minutes after Bitton quality pass found the former Academica midfielder.

One became two when Peter Stojanovic scored an own goal in the 34th minutes to give the hosts a 2-0 lead going into the half time break.

With 2 goals in The Isreali champions knew they must score another 4 unreplied goals to progress to the next round but it was not meant to be.

5 minutes after the restart of the second half Mario Budimir reduced the deficit to for the visitors to compound the woes of their hosts who must now score 5 goals in 41 minutes to make it to the next round.

Izet Hajrovic goal in the 54th minutes to equalize for the visitors made it practically impossible for the home team to come back as they now must score 6 unreplied goals for them to adva ce into the next round.

It ended 2-2 in Isreal and 7-2 on aggregate in favour of the Croatian club.
